Black & Light

I want to write of joy & blessing

Instead my pen bleeds pain

I want to sing a hallelujah

But lament is raised again

I want to rest beside still waters

Yet waves come crashing in

I want to whisper, 'Thank you, Lord'

Not shout, 'How great my sin'

You take my heart, open my eyes

Suddenly I see

Pain is joy & blessing

Lament means I am free

Waves that crash don't let me drown

But draw me deeper in

And my shout of help is answered with

Forgiveness for my sin
