The Other Side

Trying to understand what it is about your plan that makes all things new
When I'm forced to say goodbye and death seems to win

My eyes see only the pain and my soul searches for your Kingdom here on earth
Is it only when you return that I'll know the mysteries of you?
Or can you open heaven, just once, so I can catch a glimpse of what you are up to?

It will strengthen my faith, I think, to have it all confirmed
To know that suffering has a purpose
But right now I don't know
And I tremble thinking that it's on the other side of the trial—the part I can't see at all—that the answers all lay waiting.
